Starting your day with a healthy smoothie packed full of nutrients is the perfect way to set yourself up for healthy choices throughout your day.
Green smoothies are my favorite. You can basically add greens to any fruit smoothie and in moderation you can really hardly notice the greens. Spinach and Kale are two of the easiest. I also love to add Organic superfoods like Barley Grass powder and Spirulina powder as well. These two have some flavor, so go easy at first.
"The healthier you get the more you crave greens. Smoothies are a simple and tasty way to get more greens in your diet."
Here are a few simple and tasty smoothies that I enjoy with my family on a daily basis. Now remember, you may not like green smoothies at first, but the healthier you get the more you crave greens. Smoothies are a simple and tasty way to get more greens in your diet.
LIVER SUPPORTING SMOOTHIE
This one I love in the spring time to support my liver. It's simple and tastes like an Acai bowl.
1 frozen banana
1 cup frozen wild blueberries
1 cup frozen pitaya fruit (dragon fruit)
1 handful organic spinach
1 teaspoon organic barley grass powder
1.5 cup water
Blend in a high speed blender. I love Vitamix blenders, total game changer! I blend for about 50 seconds then enjoy. If you want to make it thicker for a smoothie bowl add less water. Add pumpkin seeds and healthy granola and berries on top to really make it a meal. Popular with the whole family and is more purple than green ;)
MID-DAY PICK ME UP
This on is good, and it is green but it's good. My kids call it a strawberry smoothie and I love that they aren't too worried that it's green!
1 frozen banana
1-2 cups frozen ORGANIC strawberries
1-2 cups spinach
1 handful Cashew (organic if possible)
1/2 Avocado
1.5 cup water
Once again blend on high. This smoothie will be creamy from the avocado, so it will really feel like a meal. Plus the added fat from the cashews will give you a lot of energy. I love this as a mid day snack. It tastes like a strawberry smoothie and it's green and healthy.
Stay tuned, I love sharing smoothie recipes. Be sure to check out all my smoothie recipes at my kids supplement brand; JUNE SUPERFOODS. There are many there that are favorites for kiddos.
